Please welcome our new 2015 Director, Mr. Cadrick Smith!

Dear Ida Baker High School Band members and parents:

Let me be the first to welcome you to what will be an exciting new chapter for our music program! My name is Cadrick Smith, and I have the honor of serving as your new director for the 2015-2016 school year.

I’m sure that some of you have many questions about the Band program under the direction of your new Band Director. For returning students, I will work tirelessly to ensure that you have your best year in band yet! For new students, I will strive to make your transition to the high school band experience as easy and fun as possible. With that being said, there will be a Mandatory meeting on Tuesday July 28, 2015. We will discuss all information that will be very important for the continued success and growth of the music program. Marching Band Camp will be held on August 3-7 and 10-14. Please ensure to attend the mandatory meeting where information will be given out about times and other camp related activities.

One of our main goals this year will be striving for the highest level of musicianship. For this year I have created the Wind Ensemble, which will consist of the top musicians and the most dedicated members. This ensemble will be for band members who have audition with me any time before the first day of school. Other classes will include, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Instrumental Music, Guitar/Intro to Music, and Chorus.

If you have any questions or concerns prior to the meeting feel free to send me an email at cadrickls@leeschools.net. I am very excited for this upcoming season and I look forward to working with each and every one of you this school year.

Cadrick L. Smith

Director of Bands
